Day 1: Arrival in Kochi

Upon arrival at Cochin International Airport, an Alkof Holidays representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel in Kochi. Rest and relax at the hotel, and later head-out to explore Kochi. Your sightseeing tour includes Fort Kochi, known for its colonial architecture and historic charm, Marine Drive with its picturesque waterfront, and St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India. Visit the Dutch Palace, renowned for its murals and historical artifacts, and the Santa Cruz Basilica, a stunning example of Gothic architecture. Explore the serene Bolgatty Island and immerse yourself in the history at the Indo-Portuguese Museum. Return to your hotel for a restful overnight stay.

Day 2: Kochi - Kumarakom (50 kms/1.5 hrs drive)

After breakfast at the hotel, we'll head to the peaceful town of Kumarakom. Upon arrival in Kumarakom and check in to your resort, where you can unwind and soak in the tranquil atmosphere. In the afternoon, head to the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, a paradise for bird enthusiasts. As you wander through the lush greenery, keep your eyes peeled for a variety of resident and migratory birds, including kingfishers, herons, and egrets. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings and the sounds of nature before returning to your resort for a relaxing evening.

Day 3: Explore the Backwaters and Local Culture

Start your day with a leisurely breakfast at the resort. Afterward, embark on a traditional houseboat cruise through the picturesque backwaters of Kumarakom. As you glide along the serene waterways, take in the beautiful landscapes dotted with coconut palms and traditional village life. The cruise offers a unique glimpse into the daily life of the locals and the rich culture of the region. After the cruise, explore the local markets or relax at your resort. In the evening, consider indulging in a traditional Kerala Ayurvedic massage before enjoying a delicious dinner and settling in for the night.

Day 4: Kumarakom - Alappuzha (35 kms/1 hr drive)

After breakfast at the resort, drive to Alappuzha (Alleppey), best known for houseboat cruises along the rustic Kerala backwaters, a network of tranquil canals and lagoons. Check in to your traditional houseboat around 1:00 PM and begin your enchanting overnight cruise. Enjoy a delicious lunch onboard as you glide through tranquil canals and lagoons. Marvel at the passing scenery, including Chinese fishing nets, lush paddy fields, coir-making activities, traditional homes, ancient temples, and swaying coconut groves. In the evening, you can explore the local market in Alappuzha or simply relax on the houseboat. Spend the night on the houseboat, drifting along the backwaters and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.

Day 5: Departure from Kochi

After breakfast at the houseboat, we will transfer you to Cochin International Airport for your onward journey.

We had 2 different drivers during the tour that picked us up at the airport or drove us to the next location.
