Day 1: Kolkata - Godkhali (90 kms/3 hrs drive) - Sundarbans (By Ferry)

Upon arrival at Kolkata Airport, an Alkof Holidays representative will greet you and transfer you to Godkhali Ferry Ghat, located approximately 90 km from Kolkata. En route, experience the scenic countryside, visit bustling rural bazaars, and make stopovers at local tea shop and fishermen’s villages. Upon reaching Godkhali, a naturalist will join you for a 3-day escorted tour of Sundarbans National Park. Board a ferry for a picturesque journey through the rivers Hogol, Gomor, Durgaduani, and Gumdi. Alternatively, you can visit Gosaba, one of Sundarbans' earliest human settlements, to explore the historic house of Sir Daniel Hamilton, a Scottish banker who pioneered India's first co-operative movement.

Arrive at Jharkhali Island, a serene and remote destination where the Sundarbans' mangrove forests begin. Check in at your resort and unwind. In the afternoon, embark on a 3-hour birding and game cruise to Sudhanyakhali, navigating through canals and creeks, and visit a watchtower for a glimpse of the rich wildlife. Enjoy an overnight stay at the resort, immersed in the tranquil beauty of the Sundarbans.

Day 2: Exploring Sundarbans National Park

After a hearty breakfast at the resort, prepare for a thrilling and unique forest boat safari in Sundarbans National Park, one of India’s most adventurous wildlife experiences. Navigate through the serene mangroves, where you may encounter sun-basking crocodiles, vibrant kingfishers, and, if lucky, the elusive Bengal Tigers. Embark on a cruise along the rivers Hogol, Gomor, Durgaduani, Bidya, and Gumdi, each offering a distinct perspective of the lush mangrove landscape. Proceed to Netidhopani, the park’s most remote point, where you can observe ancient archaeological sites and, from the Netidhopani Watchtower, catch glimpses of tigers swimming in their natural habitat.

In the evening, return to your resort for a cultural treat: a local rural theater performance known as Bonobibi Yatra. Villagers present this traditional performance, which weaves together captivating stories of the forest deity, the Tiger Lord, fishermen, and honey collectors, enriched with lively dances and songs. Day 3: Sundarbans - Godkhali (By Ferry) - Kolkata (90 kms/3 hrs drive)

After breakfast at the resort, embark on a guided village walk, offering you a unique opportunity to interact closely with the local villagers and experience their daily life and traditions. Following the village walk, enjoy a boat cruise through the tranquil waterways of the Sundarbans. Visit the DoBanki watchtower, where you can take a canopy walk for a different perspective of the lush mangrove forest. In the afternoon, make your way back to Godkhali by ferry. Upon arrival at Godkhali Ferry Ghat, Alkof Holidays representative will meet you and transfer you to Kolkata Airport.
