Today, it is renowned for its impressive colonial architecture, vibrant art galleries, and lively cultural festivals. Begin with a visit to the Victoria Memorial, an iconic landmark with its stunning architecture and museum. Visit Memorial Hall for a glimpse into Kolkata's historical heritage. Explore Science City for its engaging exhibits and interactive displays. Important Information

  • Safari access to specific zones is subject to availability. To secure your preferred safari bookings in your desired zones, we recommend booking your tours at least 90 days in advance.
  • To book your safari, we require a clear photo of the traveler's passport, as mandated by the forest department.
  • Once safaris are confirmed, the safari fees are non-refundable.
  • Please carry your original valid passport or ID proof to present at the entry gate for safaris.
  • Permit and Document Requirements:: To issue permits for Tsomgo Lake, New Baba Mandir, Nathula Pass, Lachen, and Lachung, you need to provide both sides of a photocopy of a valid driving license, passport, or voter ID for adults, a birth certificate for minors, and passport-size photos of everyone.
  • Supplementary costs: Supplementary costs (subject to change) include: USD 30 per person for the Toy Train Joy Ride in Darjeeling plus USD 16 per vehicle for halting charges, and USD 40 per car for luxury vehicles or USD 30 per car for Sedans/Wagon Rs at the Rock Garden in Darjeeling.
  • North Sikkim Travel Advisory:
    • Due to poor road conditions and frequent landslides, guests should carry minimal luggage to North Sikkim and leave the rest in Gangtok.
    • Senior citizens and children under 10 are not advised to visit Gurudongmar Lake due to high altitude. 
    • In Lachen and Lachung, most hotels lack heating systems and geysers, providing hot water bags and bucket-supplied hot water instead.
    • Hotels in this area offer only basic amenities and simple food cooked by locals rather than a hotel chef.
  • Nathula Pass Permits and Visits:
    • Nathula is closed on Mondays. Nathula Pass permits are issued on a rotation basis and typically require 48 hours' notice, with issuance only 24 hours before or on the day of the tour.
    • The Indian Army permits visits only from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM, so early departure from Gangtok is essential.
    • During high season, we will attempt to secure a permit and refund the supplement if unsuccessful due to weather or other reasons.
    • If the permit is issued but the visit cannot be made, no refunds will be provided. We will also try to obtain a premium, non-clubbed permit for SUVs.
    • If there are fewer than 6 people, small groups may be combined, possibly requiring vehicle changes or consolidations, with no refunds provided in such cases.
  • Bhutan's Sustainable Development Fee for foreign nationals from Europe, the USA, and Australia is included in the tour cost at USD 100 per night. For Indian nationals, the fee is INR 1,200 per night. Please contact us to adjust the pricing according to your nationality.
  • Flights to Bhutan:  Due to Bhutan's limited international flights, it's essential to book your flights early to secure your preferred travel dates.   • Pack Wisely: Sikkim and Bhutan's weather can change, so bring layered clothing for different temperatures. Pack sturdy shoes for walking, rain gear, and sun protection. Remember to take any necessary medications and a basic first-aid kit.
  • Cultural Respect: India and Bhutan is strongly connected to Hindu and Buddhist traditions. Wear modest clothing when visiting religious sites, and learn about local customs to show respect for the culture and traditions.
  • Physical Fitness: If your trip includes hiking to the Tiger's Nest Monastery or other activities, make sure you're in good shape. Begin a moderate exercise routine before your trip to fully enjoy these experiences.
  • Connectivity: Expect limited internet access in remote areas. Let your family and friends know about possible communication gaps during your trip. For easy communication on the go, consider downloading WhatsApp, as it is widely used in India and Bhutan.
  • Eco-Friendly Travel: Bhutan places great importance on preserving its natural environment. To support the country's commitment to sustainability, bring a reusable water bottle and steer clear of single-use plastics.
  • Transportation is provided according to the itinerary only and is not available on a disposal or point-to-point basis.
  • Any costs arising from natural calamities such as landslides, road blockages, political disturbances (e.g., strikes), etc., are to be borne by the client and paid directly on the spot. We will not be held liable for any refunds or compensation claims resulting from these circumstances.
  • Indian VISA: In most cases, you'll need a visa to visit India. Exceptions include Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders and citizens of a few select countries with visa-free agreements. For more information, please check https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html.
  • Bhutanese VISA:  Make sure to apply for your Bhutanese visa well ahead of your trip. A visa is required for all tourists except nationals from India, Bangladesh, and the Maldives. Alkof Holidays will handle the visa processing once your trip is booked.

A deposit of 10% is required to confirm this tour, and the remaining balance will be charged 60 days prior tour starting date. For any bookings within 60 days of departure, the full tour amount will be charged upon booking. This can be paid through bank transfer, credit/debit card, or cash.
