Day 1: Arrival Kushinagar - Lumbini (185 kms/5 hrs drive)

Upon your arrival in Kushinagar, you will be warmly greeted by Alkof Holidays representative and embark on a scenic drive to Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, located in Nepal. After a 2-3 hour journey, you will check into your hotel in Lumbini, and begin your exploration of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Start with a visit to the Maya Devi Temple, the exact birthplace of Lord Buddha, followed by the Ashoka Pillar, and then explore the Monastic Zone, where you will find monasteries built by various Buddhist nations. Finally, visit the Lumbini Museum, which houses a collection of artifacts related to Buddhism. After a day filled with spiritual and historical exploration, return to your hotel for a relaxing overnight stay.

Day 2: Lumbini - Kushinagar (185 Kms / 5 hrs drive)

After enjoying a delicious breakfast at your hotel in Lumbini, you will set out on a scenic drive to Kushinagar, a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and freshen up before starting your exploration of Kushinagar. Begin with a visit to the Mahaparinirvana Temple, which houses a reclining statue of Lord Buddha, commemorating his final moments. Next, visit the Ramabhar Stupa, the cremation site of Lord Buddha. Continue your journey with a visit to the Japanese Temple, built by the Japanese Buddhist community, and the Meditation Park, a serene place for reflection and meditation. In the evening, return to your hotel for a restful overnight stay.

Day 3: Kushinagar - Vaishali - Patna (220 kms / 5 hrs drive)

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, embark on your journey to Patna. En route, make a stop at Vaishali, renowned as the world's first republic with an elected body of representatives. This site holds immense significance for Buddhist devotees, as it was here that Lord Buddha preached the Radha Sutra to an assembly of eighty-four thousand faithful followers. Following this enriching visit, continue your drive to Patna, the vibrant capital of Bihar. Upon arrival, check into your hotel for a comfortable overnight stay.

Day 4: Patna - Nalanda - Rajgir - Bodhgaya (170 kms / 4 hrs drive)

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, set out for Bodhgaya with stops at notable historical sites along the way. Your first stop is Nalanda, a renowned center of learning and spirituality in central Bihar. Here, explore the ruins of the ancient Nalanda University, established in the 5th century BC, once one of the greatest monastic universities of the ancient world. Both Lord Buddha and Lord Mahavir, the founder of Jainism, taught at this prestigious institution. You will also find a monument dedicated to the Chinese traveler and monk, Hiuen Tsang, who studied at Nalanda in the 7th century AD. Next, proceed to Rajgir to visit Gridhkuta Peak on Ratnagiri Hill, where Lord Buddha delivered many of his inspiring sermons. At this serene site, you will find the Peace Pagoda, built by the Buddha Sangh of Japan. Continue your exploration with visits to Venuvanaram, the bamboo grove monastery gifted to Lord Buddha, and Bimbisara Prison, where King Bimbisara was imprisoned by his son. After soaking in the rich history and spirituality of these sites, continue your drive to Bodhgaya, where you will check in to your hotel for a restful overnight stay.

Day 5: Bodhgaya Local Sightseeing

Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a full day of exploration in Bodhgaya, one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in the world. Begin your sightseeing tour with a visit to the Mahabodhi Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where Lord Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree. Next, visit the Bodhi Tree itself, a direct descendant of the original tree, and the Vajrasana or Diamond Throne, the exact spot where Buddha meditated. Continue your tour with a visit to the Great Buddha Statue, an impressive 80-foot tall statue depicting Buddha in meditation pose. Explore the various monasteries and temples in the area, each built by different Buddhist nations and reflecting their unique architectural styles and cultural traditions. Notable ones include the Thai Monastery, Japanese Temple, and the Tibetan Monastery. A deposit of 10% is required to confirm this tour, and the remaining balance will be charged 30 days prior tour starting date. For any bookings within 30 days of departure, the full tour amount will be charged upon booking. This can be paid through bank transfer, credit/debit card, or cash.
