Day 1: Arrival in Leh

On your arrival at Leh Airport, a representative from Alkof Holidays will greet you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to relax and adjust to Leh's high altitude and climate. In the afternoon, explore the historic Leh Palace, once home to the royal family, followed by a visit to the serene Shanti Stupa on a hilltop. Later, take some time to wander through the local market, where you can shop for authentic Tibetan handicrafts like Prayer Wheels, Pashmina Shawls, and more. Overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Exploring Leh & Sham Valley

After breakfast, head out to explore the remarkable Sham Valley, a place built by the Indian Army to honor soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Indo-Pak wars, offering a deeply moving experience. Visit the Kali Mata Mandir and the ancient Spituk Monastery, dating back to the 11th century. Continue to Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, built in memory of Guru Nanak Dev's visit in 1517. Experience the intriguing Magnetic Hill, where the road seems to defy gravity, before reaching the stunning confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers. Return to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Leh - Khardung La - Nubra Valley (125 kms/5 hrs drive)

After breakfast at the hotel, set off on a scenic drive to the captivating Nubra Valley, also known as Ldumra, or the valley of flowers. Nestled between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas, the valley sits at an average altitude of 10,000 ft. en route, you'll cross the famous Khardungla Pass, standing at 18,360 ft., the highest motorable pass in the world. As you drive, take in breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks and towering mountains, and traverse a bridge laid on a glacier, a feat that earned a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records. Upon arrival, check in at the camp for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Nubra - Hunder - Diskit - Leh (220 kms/6 hrs drive)

After breakfast at the camp, visit the striking silver sand dunes of Hunder, a quaint village where the Shyok and Nubra Rivers converge, located at an altitude of 10,000 feet. Enjoy a memorable camel safari on the unique double-humped camels, reminiscent of the historic Silk Route trade, found only in Nubra Valley. Later, explore the ancient Diskit Monastery, perched on a hilltop offering breathtaking views of the valley. The colossal Buddha statue here is awe-inspiring and a major draw for visitors. A stroll through the small market in Diskit town offers a glimpse into local Ladakhi life. Drive back to Leh via Khardung-La Pass, and check in at the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Leh - Thiksey - Pangong Lake (225 kms/5.30 hrs drive)

Early in the morning, take your packed breakfast and set off for Pangong TSO Lake, the world’s highest saltwater lake, sitting at an altitude of 4,350m. Its vibrant blue waters create a stunning contrast with the surrounding arid mountains. Spanning 160km, one-third of the lake lies in India, while the rest stretches into China. En route, visit Shey Palace, once the summer retreat of Ladakh’s kings, followed by Hemis Gompa, re-established in 1672 and famous for its annual festival. Stop at Thiksey Monastery, perched on a hill with incredible views of the Indus Valley. Continue through Changla Pass (5,486m), making a quick stop at Tangtse village for tea and relaxation. Upon reaching Pangong Lake, check-in at your camp. Time permitting, you can visit the lake before an overnight stay.

Day 6: Pangong Lake - Tso Moriri Lake via Tsagala (270 kms/9-10 hrs drive)

After breakfast at the camp, explore the breathtaking Pangong Lake and nearby attractions. In the afternoon, embark on a scenic drive to Tsomoriri Lake, the largest lake in Ladakh, situated at an altitude of 15,075 feet. En route, pass through Tsagala, Chushul, and Mahe Bridge, while keeping an eye out for Himalayan marmots along the way. Arrive at the serene Tsomoriri Lake by evening and check into your tented camp or hotel nearby. The lake is home to around 34 species of avifauna, offering a unique bird-watching experience. Overnight stay at the camp.

Day 7: Tsomoriri Lake - Tsokar Lake - Leh (235 kms/8-9 hrs drive)

After breakfast at your camp, begin your drive back to Leh, with a detour to Tsokar Lake. Your journey will take you through diverse landscapes and notable sites, including the Puga Geo-Thermal Gas Springs, known for their fascinating geothermal activity. As you drive through the Polo-Kongka Pass, you'll encounter the traditional nomadic Rebo tents, offering a glimpse into the life of local herders. Continue to Tsokar Lake, a picturesque wetland area where you can take a break to capture some stunning photographs. If time permits, consider a visit to the small monastery in Thukje village, which provides a tranquil setting and cultural insights. Complete your drive back to Leh and check in at your hotel for a restful overnight stay.

Day 8: Departure from Leh

As your journey comes to a close, make your way to Leh airport in good time for your onward flight.

If rooms are not available at the mentioned hotels, we will provide alternate hotels of a similar category.
At hill stations, air conditioning is not typically required due to the low temperatures. However, if AC is requested, it will be charged at Rs 7 per km for SUVs and Rs 10 per km for Tempo Travelers (TT), payable directly to the driver.
Early check-in or late check-out is subject to availability.
Mobile Phone Service - Only postpaid SIM cards from BSNL, Airtel, and Jio work in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. Prepaid SIM cards from other parts of India do not work in this region. To use a prepaid SIM, purchase one from Srinagar or Ladakh.
There is no electricity at Nubra, Pangong, Sarchu, Jispa, Keylong, and Tsomoriri, so camps operate using generators that provide power only from 7 PM to 11 PM. During this time, you can charge your cameras, mobile phones, and power banks.
Only vegetarian meals will be available at Nubra, Pangong, Sarchu, Jispa, Keylong, and Tsomoriri.
To avoid high altitude sickness, you can take Diamox tablets before coming to Leh, but only after consulting with your doctor.
Upon landing in Leh, please wear a jacket to help prevent high altitude sickness.
Transportation is provided according to the itinerary only and is not available on a disposal or point-to-point basis.
From October to April, most camps, guest houses, and hotels in various locations of Ladakh, such as Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, Tsomoriri, Tsokar, Sham Valley, Kargil, and the Zanskar region, will be closed due to the off-season. In such cases, the best alternative accommodation will be provided, with prior information given to guests at the time of booking.
Any costs arising from natural calamities such as landslides, road blockages, political disturbances (e.g., strikes), etc., are to be borne by the client and paid directly on the spot. We will not be held liable for any refunds or compensation claims resulting from these circumstances.
The tourism infrastructure in Leh-Ladakh is not as developed as in the plains or other well-developed destinations. The region often faces scarcity of water and power, so you may encounter situations where hot water is supplied only at specific times, such as morning and evening.
Alkof Holidays reserves the right to modify the itinerary at any time due to reasons including, but not limited to, Force Majeure events, strikes, fairs, festivals, weather conditions, traffic issues, overbooking of hotels or flights, flight cancellations or rerouting, and closures or entry restrictions at a place of visit. While we will make every effort to arrange suitable alternatives, we cannot be held liable for any refunds or compensation claims arising from these changes.

A deposit of 10% is required to confirm this tour, and the remaining balance will be charged 30 days prior tour starting date. For any bookings within 30 days of departure, the full tour amount will be charged upon booking. This can be paid through bank transfer, credit/debit card, or cash.
